I would use chkdsk at this point to see if you have any bad sectors on your hard drive.

The actual FOV will be adjusted for other aspect ratios, meaning widescreens gain a higher than configured FOV, especialy for 21x9 and 32x9 aspect ratios.

For a 16:9 aspect ratio, a setting of 90° results in a FOV slightly above 106.

Visit Stack Exchange Steam want to validate the cache of Team fortress 2, everytime I launch it, pretty darn irritating. I can't support an issue specifically with regard to Windows 8 so if that's the issue, the only solution that I can propose is to wait until this software is officially supported on Windows 8. By defragmenting my disk and my game, I managed to resolved the issue.
